Safety

Like giving you eyes in the back of your head, the reverse camera activates automatically when the car is engaged in reverse gear. The camera, with a fisheye lens capable of providing a 130° wide angle view of up to 15 metres behind the car, significantly enhances visibility behind the car making it safer for occupants and pedestrians alike. The camera is also an invaluable aid to assist in the tricky task of hooking up a trailer.

Standard on Territory Ghia Turbo, Ghia, and optional on TS, the reverse camera adds to the impressive list of safety features on the amazing Ford Territory.

Territory features the award winning Intelligent Safety System. This system won the coveted Gold award at the Society of Australian Engineers Excellence Awards in 2003.

It is a fully integrated smart system that co-ordinates the deployment of safety technologies by sensing the severity of a crash and responding accordingly.

The Intelligent Safety System incorporates:

• Dual stage deployment driver and front passenger airbags
• Side curtain airbags for front and second row occupants*
• "Beltminder" alarm system
• Collapsible brake pedal
• Pyrotechnic seatbelt pre-tensioners
• Front and rear impact management body structure (crumple zones)

The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) helps prevent the wheels from locking under severe braking conditions. Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) works in tandem with ABS, and adjusts the brakeforce to the rear axle depending on the rear load conditions. The ABS unit in the Ford Territory has also been calibrated with 'gravel logic' to provide shorter stopping distances on loose surfaces or gravel roads.

Every Ford Territory has driver and front passenger airbags as standard with dual-stage inflation to help provide optimum protection.

The Ford Territory Turbo features a 4.0 litre DOHC DIVCT six cylinder turbo charged engine that effortlessly delivers 245kW of power, and generates a massive 480Nm of torque* allowing you to experience amazing sports performance in an All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) vehicle. Which is more than enough to make your driving experience a real pleasure and highly exhilarating. Not to mention that towing a caravan or boat will be a breeze.

You'll find the Barra 190 4.0L DOHC DIVCT 6 cylinder engine remarkable in terms of its technology, performance, fuel economy and emissions. Dual Independent Variable Cam Timing (DIVCT) and Dual Knock Sensor technology work to optimise the delivery of power, torque and fuel economy.

The Barra 190 engine delivers a 190kW power punch and 383Nm of torque, making it perfect for cruising around town or getting out on the open road. It's an engine that offers effortless get up and go, yet also delivers impressive fuel economy.

Standard on all Territory Rear-Wheel-Drive (RWD) models, the 4-speed automatic transmission features refinements such as Grade Control Logic and has precise shift scheduling and fluid shift quality to deliver a truly amazing drive.

INTERIOR

Dual zone temperature control* lets the driver and front passenger set their own individual air-conditioning temperatures.

The Territory Ghia and Ghia Turbo have a 6-way power driver's seat* that enables a comfortable seating position for people of different sizes via the touch of a button. The seats have been designed to have a plush and luxurious feel - to make long journeys seem shorter.

The Territory Interior Command Centre (ICC) has been designed to be intuitive, so everything works the way you would expect it to. It has been designed so that everything is easy to find, reach and to use. It's about the occupant being able to interact with the vehicle effortlessly, so they need not have to take their eyes off the road or lose concentration.

The Territory Ghia Turbo, Ghia and TS incorporate a Premium Interior Command Centre that provides dual zone climate control, 6-disc in-dash CD system and colour monitor.

The Ford Territory is the first locally manufactured Sports Utility Vehicle to have power adjustable pedals. Power adjustable pedals assist drivers to achieve the most comfortable driving positions - regardless of their size. The pedal position is simply altered by using a switch on the steering column. Power adjustable pedals are standard on Territory Ghia and Territory Ghia Turbo and optional on all other models.
