SPECIFICATIONS
SAFETy
Ranger boasts the availability of dual front supplementary-restraint system (SRS) airbags, standard on all models, helping to provide head protection in the event of a frontal collision. And there are optional front side airbags to help protect the driver and front passenger from side impacts. Super and Crew Cab models only.
Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) is standard on all Ranger XLT models and optional on Ranger XL models. The ABS prevents lockup from occurring during hard braking, even on slippery surfaces, thereby assisting the driver in maintaining directional control of the vehicle. EBD is incorporated into the ABS and optimizes the distribution of braking force to the front and rear wheels in accordance with the vehicle's speed and load.
Developed specifically for the Ford Ranger, this bull bar is designed to fully integrate with the vehicle's airbag system and is available on 3.0L models to help protect the front end of your vehicle in the case of an accident.
Ranger XLT models have the added security and piece of mind of an engine immobiliser, which prevents the engine from being started unless the correct key or keyless entry transmitter is used. Further to this is an alarm system, which sounds an alarm and flashes the vehicle's hazard lamps when it detects an intruder. XLT models also feature remote keyless entry with 2 remote keyfobs.
POWER AND PERFORMANCE

While boasting an abundance of pulling power, the Ranger's turbo diesel engines are also smart. The all High Pressure Common-rail platform allows precise control over fuel injection timing and pressure, giving you better fuel economy. The high pressure fuel injection also means that in addition to having plenty of high-tech power on tap, you have loads of torque throughout the rev range, along with significantly improved acceleration, under all manner of load and towing conditions.
Leading the way is the 3.0L 16 valve intercooled Direct Injection Turbo-diesel manual. It delivers 115kW of power at 3,200rpm and whopping 380Nm of torque at only 1,800rpm, while fuel economy comes in at 9.2L/100km~. The 2.5L diesel engine gives even better fuel economy at just 8.3L/100km~, yet you'll still have 330Nm of torque at 1,800 rpm.
A 5-speed manual transmission is standard on all Ranger models, providing smooth shifting capability for sedan-like driving. Selected Ranger 3.0L models are available with an optional 5-speed automatic transmission. The automatic transmission features closely spaced gear ratios to help produce better acceleration under full throttle.
Ranger's towing capability is legendary! The 2.5L models are capable of towing up to 2,250kg**. Step up to a 3.0L model and you can easily tow up to a whopping 3,000kg**##, enabling you to get more work done in less time. So hooking up a trailer full of tools or your boat on the weekend won't slow you down.
The Ranger 4x4 models feature one of two types of 4WD transfer- manual shift or electric shift- depending on the transmission type.
All 4WD manual-transmission models come with a manual shift lever and standard remote electric front wheel hub locks. The remote hubs can be operated from within the cabin by pushing a button on the instrument panel, which locks in the front differential, after which the driver may select either 2WD or 4WD with the vehicle in motion by use of a floor mounted gear lever. This gear lever can operate in either 2WD, 4WD High or 4WD Low.
All 4WD automatic-transmission models feature an electric-shift motor system to shift between 2WD and 4WD modes. This selector switch, located on the dash, allows the driver to move between 2WD and 4WD "on-the-fly", allowing effortless shift engagement.
INTERIOR
The Ranger comes standard with a host of convenient and clever storage solutions, such as the sleek slide-out tray above the glove compartment. Able to support a hefty 10kg, this tray extends from the passenger side of the dashboard and is perfect for holding a couple of CDs or even your lunch.
All Ranger XL models come standard with an AM/FM stereo with an MP3 compatible single-CD player. All Ranger XLT models come standard with an AM/FM stereo with an MP3 compatible 6-disc in-dash CD player.
Single Cab models have a pair of 25W 16cm diameter door mounted speakers. Crew and Super Cab models have 4 of the 25W speakers, plus the XLT models add to that a pair of 1.5-inch tweeters, completing the 6-speaker system.
The tilt adjustable steering wheel provides optimum comfort in terms of driving position.
The look, feel and the craftsmanship that has gone into all the interior finishes of the Ranger set new standards in comfort and convenience. In fact, the interior feels more like a family sedan than a tough truck, especially when you settle into the perfectly designed seats.
A stylish instrument panel design, short stick sports gearshift and a host of clever storage solutions, such as the centre console sunglass holder, raise the bar even further. Other features include a stereo MP3 compatible CD player, power windows and power side mirrors on XLT and a 12 volt DC accessory socket that enables you to charge your mobile phone.
